There are around twenty e-bikes that are being made available to visitors and residents in the municipality of Courmayeur in order to reduce the use of cars within the municipality and to choose a “green” alternative. The new service will be available from Tuesday, August 3, via the special “Courmayeur e-Bike Sharing” app by scanning the QR code on the boards at the bike stations.

The charging stations are located in the city center in Courmayeur (6 e-bikes available), in Dolonne (4 e-bikes), in Villair (4 e-bikes), in La Saxe (2 e-bikes) and Entrèves (4 e-bikes) ).

“Increasing sustainable mobility is one of the goals that we as the administration have set ourselves,” explains Mayor Roberto Rota. “The initiative goes in this direction and is intended to be an additional service for visitors and residents in order to avoid the car within the municipal boundaries and to give preference to the electric bike. The capillarity of the stations allows anyone to use the service and explore the country on a city e-bike or get around without having to worry about the car. Courmayeur must take swift steps to better protect the territory and its uniqueness. We have to work to ensure that smooth and sustainable mobility becomes part of everyday life. “

The cost of the service is EUR 0.05 for the first hour, EUR 0.10 for the second, EUR 0.15 for the third, EUR 0.25 for the fourth and EUR 0.50 from the fifth.

Service will continue until the end of September, weather permitting. In the next few years the service will be available from the end of April / May to the end of September / mid-October (depending on the weather).

The system selected by Courmayeur following a public procedure is the EMOBY ONE system, the innovative, fully automated bike sharing system that charges bicycles wirelessly. In August, the delivery company will also monitor the system through daily on-site inspections and analysis of operational data in order to adjust all parameters of the service to the specifics of the Courmayeur region.

“We are very proud to be able to contribute to sustainable mobility with our technology in a prestigious context like Courmayeur,” commented Roberto Minerdo, President of EMOBY, “and we will complete our commitment to best support the community’s action.”
